Sample Itinerary

The Spectacular Brandywine Valley

The hospitality of generations of du Ponts still beckons. Two Brandywine country estates showcase the elegant 19th and 20th century American lifestyle, exquisite gardens and priceless antiques.

Day One: Start the day at Winterthur and take a guided tour of Henry Francis du Pont's collection of antiques and Americana, and his glorious naturalistic garden.  Have lunch on your own or use the pre-paid vouchers.  In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Hagley, featuring the original du Pont mills, estate and gardens.  Please note, from January to March, Hagley offers one guided tour per day at 1:30 pm.

Day Two: In the morning, visit the Brandywine River Museum, known for its unparalleled collection of works by three generations of the Wyeth family and its outstanding collection of American illustration, still life and landscape painting.  Have lunch on your own at Longwood Gardens, the world's premier horticultural display garden.  Explore Pierre du Pont's legacy of 1,077 acres of gardens, fountains, and more.

To book the above itinerary, please contact the individual attractions.
