Administrative Assistant, Floriculture and Research

Longwood Gardens is looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to the leadership team in our Floriculture and Research Divisions. This individual must be highly skilled in multiple Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Access is preferred. The Administrative Assistant will prepare correspondence, presentations and meeting minutes, perform data entry and management, coordinate meetings and organize catering, order supplies, and assist with general clerical duties as required. This individual will be required to provide vacation coverage for other Administrative Assistance in Horticulture as needed. The work schedule is 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday starting at 9:00 a.m.; flexibility is desired as hours may change due to business needs.

Performing Arts Attendants

Longwood Gardens is seeking part time Performance Attendants. This position is part of a team that is responsible for providing crowd control and will serve as a door attendant and/or usher for live performances, workshops, residencies and rehearsals presented by Longwood Gardens.

Performance Attendants will also carry out the instructions of the Performance Supervisor including but not limited to artist hospitality; marketing and PR initiatives; supplemental guest services; safety of performers and audience. Attendants welcome guests and provide assistance and accurate information as needed, assuring that guests have a memorable, enjoyable experience. In addition, Attendants insure the cleanliness of the venue and seating area both prior to audience arrival and after the conclusion of the event.

We are looking for organized individuals with good communication skills. This individual should have knowledge of and love for the performing arts. The applicant must have the personality and ability to interact well with the public. Scheduled hours will change seasonally and are primarily evenings, weekends and holidays

Guest Services Associate

The part time Guest Services Associate will be a host to guests of Longwood Gardens and provide various duties related to guest relations. Duties will include, but are not limited to, greeting guests, assisting with set-up of programs and daily operational needs, and providing crowd control during peak visitation and special events. We are looking for candidates who have exceptional customer service, communication and hospitality skills. This position requires walking outdoors, lifting light loads, and working in all weather conditions. Work schedules include weekends, days, evenings and holidays.

Part-Time Laboratory and IPM Technician

Longwood Gardens has an opening for a part- time Laboratory and IPM technician working in the Horticulture Department. This individual will be responsible for performing tasks critical to the daily operations of a plant tissue culture laboratory and IPM (Integrated Pest Management) practices. Such tasks include making plant tissue culture media, using various plant tissue culture and in vitro seed sowing techniques, re-planting established cultures, managing the laboratory use schedule, ordering supplies, and various tasks related to the daily activities of lab with diverse activities and multiple users. This individual will also spend part of their time scouting growing and display areas for insect and disease problems, reporting their findings daily, and helping instruct students, growers, and gardeners on IPM techniques.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; proficiency with Microsoft word, excel, and internet based software is a must. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and will be required to operate an electric cart. Must be willing to work with staff at all levels including interns and students; experience in plant tissue culture and/or integrated pest management is preferred.

Guest Services Representatives

Longwood Gardens has openings for Part Time Guest Admissions Representatives. Individuals will be responsible for selling daily admission tickets, memberships, and special event tickets along with greeting and communicating pertinent Longwood information to our guests regarding current displays, exhibit, shows and events. We are looking for candidates who have exceptional customer service, communication and hospitality skills. Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Applications, as well as Point of Sale systems. Candidates should have excellent phone etiquette and be willing to work in a call center environment. Job requires the ability to work standing or sitting for long periods time, and the ability to work in all different weather environments at multiple different onsite ticketing venues. Longwood Gardens is open 365 days a year. The work schedules include weekends, days, evenings and holidays.
