Gain an understanding of the similarities and differences between Chinese, Korean and Japanese gardens; and learn about components of traditional gardens, as well as interpretive gardens that borrow ideas and adapt them in innovative ways.
This class will include an initial design overview to understand the historic context and complexity of Asian gardens, with applications for the United States. Rock placement will be addressed, with step-by-step construction approaches to the use of rocks in garden design. Asian garden plants and the use of garden elements, such as walls, fences, walkways, lanterns, and basins in Asian gardens will also be discussed.
This is a four session class that starts on September 10 at 7:00 pm. Following sessions occur on September 17, 24, & October 1.
