Digital photography has enabled just about anyone to take photos easily and quickly. However, strategies to create better photos are often either never learned or frequently misunderstood. This class is aimed at beginners and uses constructive critique and individually based suggestions to refine one’s eye to see beyond the mediocre photo. De-emphasize camera mechanics in favor of learning elements of composition and seeing new photo ops where seemingly few exist. This workshop will focus on the outside grounds and gardens of Longwood.

Participants must bring their own digital photographic equipment (camera, smart phone or DSLR) and blank memory card. Bring a laptop computer, tablet, or iPad and a flash drive to download images for the critique. Participants should have complete familiarity with their camera. A tripod is optional.

Dress for the outdoors and consider bringing a hat and sunscreen.
