Discover some celebrated and lesser-known pillars of horticulture through a series of readings and book chats focused on the Heroines of Horticulture. From gardeners to garden writers, landscape architects to floral designers, many innovative and forward-thinking women have made lasting contributions to the field. In a monthly discussion prompted by The Virago Book of Women Gardeners by Deborah Kellaway, Martha will pay homage to the likes of Valerie Finnis, Marian Cruger Coffin, Constance Spry, and Edith Wharton as she shares stories and images from the lives of these great women. Topics of discussion will vary each session. This is a great way to spend the winter months as their legacy will inspire and excite you for Longwood’s Community Read in the spring.
