With brilliant colored stems, deeply furrowed bark, and the remnants of fruit and seed pods gracing the winter landscape, many of our woody plants have different characteristics during the dormant season. The ability to discern a plant's characteristics during the winter months can be a tricky task for even a skilled horticulturist. This course demystifies the twig identification process through class discussion, slides, cut twigs, and the review of morphological terms.
The morning session for beginners includes an introduction to the terminology as well as basic identification techniques.
Please dress for the weather and be prepared for an indoor/outdoor learning experience.
Please remember that many courses are extremely popular and will sell out quickly. Register now to begin your journey in lifelong learning at Longwood Gardens.
