The Longwood lecture series returns with a focus on some of the iconic plants of Longwood that celebrate our seasons.

While there is an abundance of yellow, red, pink, and white, blue remains a rarity in the botanical world. Jim Harbage, Ph.D., Longwood's Floriculture Leader, will discuss the trials and research that brought the Himalayan blue-poppies (Meconopsis ‘Lingholm’) from behind the scenes to the front stage during March at Longwood. Then join Karl Gercens, Conservatory Section Gardener, as he circumnavigates the globe showing off some of the greatest blue flowering plants from the Canary Islands and the coast of Greece to the iconic gardens of England. A dessert reception follows.
