Are you dealing with invasive plants on your property? If so, join members of Longwood Gardens’ Horticulture team as they share how to identify and deal with invasive species in this “boot-camp” style, hands-on workshop. Kick off your experience with a pre-workshop online session to prepare for the onsite component. Then join us in our Meadow Garden, where you’ll practice your skills, learn real-world strategies to limit seed dispersal, try techniques to prevent smothering and spread, and discover how to wrangle woody invasive plants. From Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) to Callery pear (Pyrus calleryana), you’ll also hone your identification skills to spot unwanted additions to your home garden before they set up shop.
Dress for the weather (including clothes that can get dirty) and wear comfortable walking shoes.
This course counts as a horticulture technique requirement of the Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture.
