Presented by Longwood Gardens in Partnership with People’s Light

Join us for the first theater performance presented in our Meadow Garden.  Created by the award-winning PearlDamour and Mimi Lien, Lost in the Meadow follows an eclectic group of pilgrims as they make their way through the expanse of the Meadow Garden, each looking for a place where they belong. Headphones allow the audience to hear the travelers’ conversations, even though they are hundreds of feet away. In another part of the Meadow Garden, workers are building something: a giant tower, crowned with a mysterious megaphone. What message will this tower broadcast? Can it help these pilgrims find their way?  Filled with humor, spectacle, and music, Lost in the Meadow explores the quest of the tiny human being to understand the big picture.

Nightscape is a rain or shine event. The decision to cancel or delay will be made at show time, depending on conditions in the Gardens.

Katie PearlKatie Pearl

PearlDamour and Mimi Lien are both OBIE Award-winning theater-makers coming together for the first time as a collaborative team. PearlDamour (Katie Pearl and Lisa D’Amour) is known for combining theater with installation to create site-specific performances that are intimate, mysterious and often interactive. Having arrived at set design from a background in architecture, Mimi Lien’s work often focuses on the interaction between audience/environment and object/performer. In addition to her work with PearlDamour, Lisa was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for her play Detroit, and her play Airline Highway debuts on Broadway in April. Mimi’s work has been presented around the U.S., as well as the Netherlands, Russia and Taiwan, and she is a recipient of a Lucille Lortel Award and American Theatre Wing Hewes Design Award (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), and a Barrymore Award (Outrage).
