An accomplished organist and recitalist, Steven Patchel currently serves as music director at Immanuel Episcopal Church, Highlands in Wilmington, DE. Patchel has presented organ recitals at Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue in New York and the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, Princeton University Chapel, in addition to recitals at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Museum, Leeds Minster, and St. Paul’s Cathedral in the United Kingdom.
More about Steven Patchel
Originally from Kennett Square, PA, for many years Patchel led sacred music programs in the Boston area, where he was heard in organ recitals at leading venues including Trinity Church Copley Square, Mission Church Basilica, Old West Church, and Harvard’s Busch Hall Museum. Patchel received a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin College Conservatory. He studied organ with William Porter, David Boe, and Garth Peacock, and harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford. Patchel is a frequent accompanist for regional chamber musicians and for Wilmington’s Center City Chorale. He is also an active member of the American Guild of Organists, where he has organized and taught a Pipe Organ Encounter, the American Guild of Organist’s summer program for organ students. Patchel maintains a private studio for youth and adults, teaching piano and organ.
