The word “Photography” comes from the Greek root words “Photo” (meaning “light”) and “graphia” (meaning “drawing”), so photography truly does mean “drawing with light.” With simple LED flashlights, learn how to light an orchid from Longwood’s collection using this simple yet effective tool. The magic happens when you learn how to layer your exposures in Adobe Photoshop to create a stunning and dramatic image.

Students will need a laptop computer, including the power cord, with both Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop installed, digital camera capable of accepting multiple lenses, electronic cable release, tripod and a USB to Mini-USB cable.

Each student will be given the LED flashlights and workshop equipment to keep for future photographic adventures.

The class will take place in a low-light environment.

Photos taken during photography classes at Longwood may not be sold for commercial uses.
