In 1906, Pierre S. du Pont purchased the Peirce Arboretum to save its trees from being cut for lumber. Over the next nearly half century, Mr. du Pont developed Longwood Gardens into what it is today, a magnificent horticultural showplace.
We invite you to visit Longwood Gardens, which now encompasses 1,050 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. Enjoy over 11,000 types of plants, more fountains than any other garden in the US, educational and visitor programming, and over 400 performances a year.
Join us for our year-long changing exhibit, which delves into the sights, sounds and science of pollination.
Enjoy a cool respite from the summer heat as thousands of fountain jets shower their refreshing magic on the Gardens.
Jaw-dropping Fireworks & Fountains shows entertain on special evenings. This year's shows include Khachaturian Cavalcade, Founder’s Favorites and Longwood’s first fireworks using pop vocals--Abbacadabra: The Magic of ABBA.
The completely re-designed restaurant offers fresh fare and beautiful rooms for a sophisticated dining experience. Both the Cafe and new full service Restaurant, 1906, are now open!
Inspired by Longwood’s stunning displays, the Shop is the perfect place to find stunning décor, whimsical gifts, and your favorite plants.
