The International Ornamental Horticulture Intern or Trainee works through various rotations, including Horticultural Research, Greenhouse Production, Conservatory Management, and Outdoor Display.
This unique opportunity provides a rotational experience meant to maximize exposure to horticulture in a public garden.
Our Horticulture staff works with each intern/trainee to develop a plan that addresses and serves individual student interests and career goals. Interns/trainees will spend several months in four horticultural areas, while also carrying out specific long-term projects based on the needs of the Horticulture Department and the intern’s/trainee's career interests. Areas of focus may lie outside of the four rotation areas and include Arboriculture, Plant Records Mangement, Turf Mangement, Nursery Management, Natural Lands Management, or Integrated Pest Management.
Opportunities for professional development, including a stipend for attendance at one national conference are available.
Successful candidates are self-motivated, collaborative, and passionate individuals who are looking for a dynamic experience in a world class horticultural environment.
