Longwood Gardens Announces Nightscape: A Light and Sound Experience Featuring the Work of Philadelphia’s Klip Collective

November 24, 2014 Kennett Square, PA - Longwood Gardens, one of the world’s great display gardens, will debut Nightscape: A Light and Sound Experience in summer 2015. Nightscape takes guests on an immersive evening journey around the Gardens where they will encounter moving imagery and light choreographed to music and brought to life by the natural canvas of Longwood’s plants, leaves, trees, and lakes. Created by Klip Collective of Philadelphia, this innovative display is Klip’s first garden-wide installation and will showcase never-before-seen views of Longwood at night.

“Longwood Gardens is thrilled to present Nightscape: A Light and Sound Experience,” said Executive Director Paul B. Redman. “Using our Gardens as the inspiration and the canvas, Klip is creating an imaginative visual and sound experience. Our guests will journey through the landscape and encounter the beauty of the gardens in a new and memorable way, augmented by light, moving imagery, and sound,” Redman said.

Nightscape will include seven site-specific locations around the Gardens, with each experience inspired by the Garden setting. Locations include the Rose Arbor, Large Lake, Flower Garden Walk, Topiary Garden, and the grand Conservatory.

“Our team at Klip is excited to present a body of work of this scale at Longwood,” said Ricardo Rivera, one of the founding directors of Klip Collective. “This is our first opportunity to create such a transformative garden environment while incorporating original scores from multiple composers. From abstract reflections off the large lake to a projected animation on a giant Chinese Scholar-tree, Longwood will truly be an immersive experience on an epic scale.”

Nightscape: A Light and Sound Experience opens July 1, 2015 and will be on view through October 31, 2015. Tickets go on sale March 2015.
