China-fir

This conifer tree, Cunninghamia lanceolata, was planted by Pierre S. du Pont after the nearby Open Air Theatre was completed in the late 1920s. It is the most primitive surviving member of Cupressaceae, the family of plants which includes arborvitae and juniper.
