The traditional homelands of the Lenape are called the Lenapehoking, stretching from southern New York down through New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and into Delaware. Traditional Lenni Lenape horticultural, farming, and land management techniques prioritize sustainability and display their deep understanding of the intimate relationships between all living entities on earth.

During this online discussion led by Shelley DePaul, Lenape language specialist and Former Chief of the Lenape Nation of PA, explore the plants that the Lenape use for food and medicine. Additionally, learn about Lenape conservation landscaping, which involves indigenous methods of native species reintroduction—and learn how these traditional methods can now be applied to a variety of habitats from forest to suburban to even urban landscapes.
