Learn taxonomy, botanical vocabulary, and related nomenclature as well as basic cultivation information, during this fully online class, with both instructor-led and self-study versions from which to choose.

Learn the fundamentals of plant identification and compare growing seasons, shopping prices, and even recipes with fellow students. Take the skills you learn through engaging online sessions, photo stories, plant fact pages, discussion forums, and hundreds of beautiful images and apply them to plants you’ll encounter outside of the class. Plan for a year-round harvest and learn that some of your favorite berries might not technically be berries after all, botanically speaking!

You’ll Learn:

  • Taxonomy
  • Botanical vocabulary
  • Working knowledge of plant nomenclature, including scientific and common names
  • Apply knowledge of plant morphology to classify and identify plants
  • Basic cultivation information

This program is in partnership with North Carolina State University.
