Winter Nights at Longwood

When darkness falls, magic rises. 

Nature and light collide in Garden Glow—an enchanting after-hours journey through our Conservatory and Main Fountain Garden Districts. 

Follow glowing paths of luminaria as they guide you through an evening of discovery. Inside our historic conservatories, explore floral masterworks created by Longwood artists, revealing plants’ hidden beauty as they’re bathed in colors that bring warmth to the winter night. Experience Seeking Light: Bonsai Illuminated, a striking blacklight installation in which the intricate details of bonsai take on an otherworldly dimension, glowing with a captivating intensity. 

Step into a West Conservatory transformed by award-winning floral designer Jennifer Reed, where a suspended installation evokes an ethereal, vibrant dreamscape. Outside, thousands of shimmering, biodegradable sparks float gracefully skyward— like fireflies dancing at dusk or stars drifting within reach—with SPARK, a mesmerizing installation by the visionary artist Daan Roosegaarde.

This isn't just a garden at night. It's a luminous dreamscape—where every corner promises discovery, and every turn unveils something beautiful.

Garden Glow tickets include all-day Gardens Admission and re-entry during that day … so you can experience our Gardens by day and Garden Glow at night!

Garden Glow tickets are rain or shine. Please note the SPARK component of Garden Glow may be unavailable during temperatures below 25°F or inclement weather. We will continue to offer Garden Glow on evenings if SPARK is unavailable.

West Conservatory

Suspended Dreamscape

Step into a West Conservatory transformed with a suspended floral and fabric installation by award-winning floral designer Jennifer Reed and supported by Longwood Floristry Manager Steven Cox. Along the central path, take a journey inspired by a gentle walk from winter into spring.

Music Room

Seeking Light: Bonsai Illuminated

This striking blacklight exhibit unveils the intricate beauty of dwarf junipers (Juniperus chinensis ‘Shimpaku’), revered for their resilience and adaptability. Aged more than 150 years, these trees were originally collected from the rugged mountains of eastern Asia before being transformed into living sculptures.

'Shimpaku' embody the delicate balance between survival and surrender, expressed in the stark contrast of living veins and deadwood. Carved and refined by nature’s forces, these details take on an otherworldly dimension, glowing with a captivating intensity and their artistry seen in a new light.

Main Fountain Garden

SPARK

Outside, thousands of shimmering, biodegradable sparks float gracefully skyward—like fireflies dancing at dusk or stars drifting within reach—with SPARK, a mesmerizing installation by the visionary artist Daan Roosegaarde of Studio Roosegaarde.

Oval Basin/East Conservatory

Serene Spheres

A series of 12 glass orbs, illuminated and adorned with preserved angel vine and eucalyptus, drift gracefully on the Oval Basin, creating an enchanting welcome to the East Conservatory. Their gentle glow and natural textures evoke a sense of calm wonder, inviting you to pause and take in the beauty.

Green Wall/East Conservatory

Artful Arches

A warm, inviting floral experience awaits with three breathtaking arches, a dreamy floral cloud, and orbs glowing softly overhead. Stunning in shades of peach, butter yellow, and chartreuse, the palette is both innovative and diverse. Discover a rich tapestry of textures, from delicately preserved ferns to roses, dried
blooms harvested from our Idea Garden, and striking Aechmea lueddemanniana ‘Alvarez’ with its blushes of red.

Floral Chandelier

Suspended from above, a luminous floral chandelier wreath commands attention as cascades of crystal strands shimmer below. Wrapped around a custom, inhouse metal frame is a lush composition of preserved botanicals: eucalyptus, caspia, myrtle, angel vine, and Spanish moss. Nearly 150 crystal strands descend dramatically from 2 to 15 feet, punctuated by the warm glow of vintage bulbs.

Exhibition Hall/Main Conservatory

Floating Blooms

Step into the Exhibition Hall and experience radiant reverie by way of dozens of bold live Anthurium baskets and dried floral baskets in soft pink, crisp white, and rich red hues. Illuminated by a captivating interplay of light, this effervescent display is a celebration of color and texture, bursting with stunning burgundy and green salal, sculptural dried palms, and much more.

Dine With Us

1906 will be open for prix-fixe dining in the dining room or à la carte selections in the bar and lounge on Garden Glow evenings. Last seating is at 7:30 pm. Guests must have a ticket to Garden Glow to dine in 1906 after 4:30 pm.

The Café will be open nightly.

Concessions available in The Fountain Room 5:00–9:00 pm.
