Longwood Gardens’ Spring Blooms Recognized as Tulip Display of the Year

Kennett Square, Pa. – Longwood Gardens’ Spring Blooms display was named the 2019 Tulip Display of the Year by the World Tulip Society. The World Tulip Awards are presented to organizations and individuals who have distinguished themselves in the development and promotion of tulips as part of their community celebrations and destination’s tourism appeal. The award was presented at the World Tulip Summit in The Hague, Netherlands on October 15.

The World Tulip Society is a non-profit organization whose board and members consist of representatives of major tulip festivals and industries across the globe. The World Tulip Society is committed to promoting the tulip as a symbol of world friendship, peace, and spring.

Since the late 1950s, Longwood has showcased thousands of tulips along its historic 600-foot long Flower Garden Walk from mid-April to early May. Through the years the annual spring display has expanded to include other areas of the gardens and now features more than 200,000 tulips in glorious bloom.
