StoryCorps Terms & Conditions

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

1. PROMOTION DESCRIPTION: StoryCorps, a national oral history project, is coming to Longwood Gardens to record and preserve the stories of our community. Recordings will take place on June 13 and 14 at Longwood Gardens.

A StoryCorps interview is 40 minutes of uninterrupted time for meaningful conversation between two people who know each other. It’s an opportunity to ask the questions that matter and preserve your stories for future generations.

At the end of your session, you’ll take home a broadcast-quality CD of the interview, and with your permission a copy will be archived at the Library of Congress and with Longwood Gardens.

2. HOW TO ENTER: Enter your Longwood Story at www.longwoodgardens.org/storycorps now through May 19 at 11pm. To enter, you must be able to provide the details of the meaningful story you would like to tell, as well as the information about the person you know who you want to have a recorded conversation with.

3. ELIGIBILITY: Open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older. Winners will be contacted via email by Longwood Gardens on May 27 and must be available on June 13 or 14, 2014 to do a StoryCorps recording interview at Longwood Gardens. All participants must provide their own transportation to and from Longwood Gardens, 1001 Conservatory Road, Kennett Square, PA USA.

4. GRAND PRIZE: Winners will get their interview recorded and documented with StoryCorps and will receive one audio CD of the interview. StoryCorps will keep a copy of the interview and it will also be given to the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. The signed release allows StoryCorps and Longwood Gardens to use your interview and photo in noncommercial ways, such as websites, on the radio, at events, or in print.

5. LIMITATIONS AND RELEASES: By entering this contest, you unconditionally and irrevocably assign all copyrights and other rights to the written entry and associated material. You acknowledge that Longwood Gardens may, at its sole discretion, publish or otherwise use or distribute any information submitted by you.  Entrants must sign and abide by the Terms and Conditions provided by StoryCorps.

As a condition of submitting a written entry, you (and any other individual depicted in the written entry) unconditionally and irrevocably waive all claims to compensation for use of the recording, and/or any rights with respect to such use you may have under copyright law, the right to publicity, the right to privacy, the law of defamation, and any other common law or statutory claims under the laws of any jurisdiction.
