Come enjoy a morning of spring garden flowers and ikebana, one of the national arts of Japan.
Learn about the elegant basic arrangement styles typical of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana whose motto is that ikebana can be created anytime, anywhere, by anyone, with anything, in any part of the world. Create a basic style arrangement as well as a free style arrangement with a structure made in the class. Learn new techniques for arranging that can be used in many types of floral designs with sustainability in mind.

Lynn Ryan
Lynn Ryan is a 1st Grade, Somu rank certified teacher of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana in Tokyo, Japan. She began her floral journey at Longwood Gardens and received her Certificate of Merit in Floral Design in 2003, then immediately gravitated to the practice of Ikebana and began studying with Midori Tanimune in Delaware. Her first Sogetsu teaching appointment was given in 2009. Ryan is currently teaching classes in New Castle County, Delaware. She is the Chairperson of the Sogetsu Teachers Association's Brandywine Study Group in Delaware and is a member of Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter 71. Ryan has exhibited Sogetsu Ikebana arrangements at Longwood Gardens, the Philadelphia Flower Show, the Delaware Contemporary Art Museum, and other local venues. She currently resides in Delaware.
