Request a Longwood Gardens Field Trip

Spring 2026 Field Trip requests open Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 10:00 am.

  • The field trip request form is only a request. Submitting the field trip request form does not guarantee reserved field trip date(s).

  • Review all information carefully before submitting; submission of the request form is considered final.

  • Do not submit the request form as a placeholder; due to the high volume of requests, re-scheduling a reserved field trip date may not be possible.

  • An automatic email response will be sent to the email address listed on the form. This confirms that the request is in progress. Allow up to three business days to receive an update to the status of the request.
  • Have all the following information collected prior to completing the field trip request form, we are not able to save incomplete forms.

Contact information–Lead Teacher Name, Primary Telephone Number, and Email Address.

School Information–School Name, School Address, Type of Educational Institution (Cyber, Charter, District School, etc.) and School District Name if applicable.

Type of Field Trip–We offer two types of field trips: educator-guided or self-guided.

Educator-guided field trips offer 60-minutes of inquiry-based instruction in small student groups with a Longwood Educator. Program times are fixed. For complete details, visit: Plan Your Educator-Guided Field Trip and FAQ's

Self-guided field trips allow flexible arrival and departure times for groups. Groups may explore the Gardens or download our free self-guided activities prior to arrival.  For complete details, visit: Plan Your Self-Guided Field Trip and FAQ's

Number of Students

A minimum of 15 students is required on the date of the field trip to receive free admission. Groups arriving with less than 15 students may enter the Gardens by purchasing general admission tickets

Educator-guided student capacity is 90 students per program time. Groups with more than 90 students must be divided over more than one program time or field trip date. You may indicate your preference on the field trip request form. To view the availability calendar, visit: Educator-Guided Field Trip Availability Calendar

Self-guided student capacity is 170 students per day. Groups with more than 170 students must be divided over more than one field trip date. To view the availability calendar, visit: Self-Guided Availability Calendar

We cannot guarantee that divided groups will be scheduled on contiguous dates.

Free Adult Chaperones

The number of free adult chaperones is dependent on the number of students attending and is automatically calculated for you on the request form. Groups will receive one free admission for every 10 students attending. Additional adult admissions may be purchased prior to arrival.

School paraprofessionals and/or school nurses required to attend

Free admission is provided for required school paraprofessionals and/or school nurses. These specific admissions are separate from the free adult chaperone admissions noted above. If the number of required staff is unknown at the time of filling out the request form, it may be updated prior to the date of the field trip.
