Transportation reimbursement funds for Spring 2026 field trips are no longer available. Grant applications may still be completed to receive student return coupons.
Who can apply for the Grant?
Schools with 30% or more of the student population qualifying for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program. School groups must be visiting the Gardens as an educator or self-guided field trip March 11- June 11, 2026.
What does the Longwood Grant for Title I Schools include?
Return coupons for the students. Please note: transportation reimbursement funds for Spring 2026 are no longer available.
How To Apply
- Complete the field trip request form. Allow up to three business days after submitting the field trip request to receive a field trip confirmation email. The email will have an attached pdf with the field trip date and reservation number.
2. Collect a Title I documentation letter. All applications must have a Title I letter on school letterhead in the following format:
- Dated within 90 days of the application date.
- State the current percentage of students in the school that qualify for free or reduced lunch - must be 30% or more to qualify.
- Signed by the school principal or administrator.
Letter may be uploaded on the application as a rtf, pdf, doc or docx.
Other types of Title I documentation may not be substituted.
3. Complete the Title I grant application. Have the following information collected prior to filling out the application; we are unable to save incomplete forms.
- Reserved an Educator-or Self-Guided Field Trip
- Field Trip Date and Reservation Number
- School Name
- Teacher Name and Email Address
- Title I letter in format outlined above
4. Receipt of the grant application will be confirmed by email within one business day. All applications will receive a status update from schoolandyouth@longwoodgardens.org within three business days.
Please note: Submission of an application does not confirm approval of the grant. Applications may be declined if:
- Title I documentation letter is not submitted in required format.
- The school does not meet the minimum percentage of 30% of the student population qualifying for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program.
- A field trip date has not been reserved for the group.
