Join us as we explore all things palms … and even pot and take home one of your own. Learn palms’ basic history and physiology, where you can find them at Longwood (including the new West Conservatory!), how to keep them as houseplants, best practices for care and cultivation, and more. Watch Longwood Horticulturist Clay Stradley demonstrate how to successfully pot a palm … then, engage in a hands-on potting workshop, where you will plant your own potted palm to take home and care for.

Clay Stradley

Longwood Horticulturist Clay Stradley cares for a large portion of our permanent tropical plant collection in the East Conservatory. With a master’s degree in plant taxonomy, he focuses on tropical plants and their care, previously serving as a tropical greenhouse manager for a local garden center. He loves container gardening and the ability it gives to try new combinations.
