Your registration fee includes admission to the Gardens on the day the class is onsite.

Registrations may be cancelled up to two weeks before the event, and your registration fee, less a $30 processing fee, will be refunded. Please note that refunds are not available for programs moved to scheduled inclement weather dates.

Gardens Preferred, Gardens Premium Members and Innovators save on Continuing Education Courses

A 10% discount on classes will be applied automatically at the time of checkout. 

Learn how to select, grow, and maintain plants suited for containers, raised beds, patios, balconies, and indoor environments. Emphasis will be placed on plant selection, design principles, seasonal interest, and proper care techniques for limited-space gardening. Enjoy guided garden walks and observe and evaluate plants commonly used in small-space landscapes and interior settings. By the end of the course, you will gain the knowledge and confidence you need to design and maintain attractive, functional gardens in compact spaces.

This class serves as an elective component of our Gardening Certificate.

Matt Calhoun

Longwood Horticulturist Matt Calhoun, cares for the Cascade Garden and 1906, among other spaces. He began his journey at Longwood as an intern, inspired by a lifelong love of houseplants.
