Registrations may be cancelled up to two weeks before the event, and your registration fee, less a $30 processing fee, will be refunded. Please note that refunds are not available for programs moved to scheduled inclement weather dates.

This class begins with an engaging introduction and live demonstration by Mike Gibson, followed by guided, hands-on work with tabletop-size plants provided by Longwood. With all tools and materials supplied, you’ll receive individualized instruction as you shape, refine, and leave with your own finished topiary creation.

Mike Gibson

Mike Gibson is a world renowned topiary artist from Youngstown, OH, now living in Columbia, SC, who has over 30 years of experience in beautifying public spaces. From starting at a young age, he quickly found his passion which has led him to a successful career as one of the nation's leading topiary artist and educators in the industry. After leading one of the company's top stores as a Sales Manager for Staples, Gibson decided to follow his passion and run his company, Gibson Works LLC, full time in 2019. He has since been featured on HGTV's reality tv show Clipped with Martha Stewart, was previously the artist-in-residence at the famed Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden, and awarded the Garden Scholar award from the APGA. To date, he's created over 600 topiaries across the country. He currently also leads lectures, demonstrations, and workshops, educating garden communities on the art and therapeutic benefits of topiary.
