Instructor

Carla D. Garzon

Dr. Carla D. Garzon obtained a PhD in Plant Pathology from Pennsylvania State University, and received postdoctoral training at The Pennsylvania State University, Cornell University, and Ohio State University. She reached the rank of Professor of Plant Pathology at Oklahoma State University before joining Delaware Valley University as the K.H. Littlefield Endowed Professor of Plant Science in 2020. During her scientific career, Dr. Garzon has conducted research focused on population biology, diagnosis, and management of diseases of specialty crops—including vegetables, herbs, grapes, and ornamental crops, among others—caused by oomycetes and fungi, as well as breeding, hydroponic cultivation, and teaching methods. She has published 40 scientific publications and has presented more than 130 talks and posters at national, regional, and state scientific meetings. At Delaware Valley University she teaches courses on greenhouse management, hydroponics, cannabis, and plant pathology, and leads the Controlled Environment Agriculture and Cannabis research programs.
