Registrations may be cancelled up to two weeks before the event, and your registration fee, less a $30 processing fee, will be refunded. Please note that refunds are not available for programs moved to scheduled inclement weather dates.

Join horticulturist Ed Lyon as he covers the most common types, along with tips on planting, pruning, watering, and how to influence bloom color through soil pH. Whether you're starting a garden or enhancing your landscape, this class will help you grow healthy, beautiful hydrangeas all season long.

This program will take place partially or entirely outdoors. Please dress for the weather and wear footwear suited for walking on uneven paths and through wet areas.

Instructor

Ed Lyon

Ed Lyon is a professional horticulturist with 25 years of experience in the green industry and dirt under his nails from intensive lifelong personal gardening. He most recently served as Director of Reiman Gardens, Iowa State University, (Ames, IA) a position from which he retired in May 2024. He wrote a book called Growing the Midwest Garden for Timber Press, presents to public and professional audiences, writes for gardening magazines, and developed an online tutorial on garden design for Garden Gate Magazine and on shade gardening for Fine Gardening magazine. His Iowa property was featured in Garden Gate magazine.
