Registrations may be cancelled up to two weeks before the event, and your registration fee, less a $30 processing fee, will be refunded.

Start your experience with an online orientation and brief discussion of night and low-light photography, and then join instructor Bob Gross to capture the magic of the display at your own pace and with plenty of space in our West, East, and Main Conservatories. Then, conclude your experience with a friendly online critique and a chance to show off your work!

Online Orientation
Tuesday, December 2, 6:00–7:00 pm

Onsite Session
Friday, December 5, 10:30 pm–Saturday, December 6, 1:30 am

Inclement weather date: Saturday, December 6, 2025

Online Review Session
Tuesday, December 16, 6:00–8:00 pm

Full course content includes both the online and the onsite components.

Location

Onsite in the Conservatories at Longwood Gardens with additional online sessions. Class location is subject to move depending on availability.

Instructor

Bob Gross

Having graduated with a degree in visual communications, Bob Gross has 40 years of experience as a professional designer, photographer, and instructor. He's conducted classes and workshops ranging from beginner photography to advanced computer imaging. Bob also served as an adjunct professor at Drexel University, where he taught a graduate course in biomedical photography. Bob loves creating images of nature, landscapes, and wildlife; but what really excites him is seeing a student's eyes light up when they say, "Wow, NOW I get it!”

  • Camera (and manual, if available)
  • Tripod
  • Extra batteries
  • Extra memory cards
  • Lens options for wide angle shots
  • Zoom lens (200mm)
