Instructor

Michelle Neff, Matt Calhoun

Michelle has spent more than 25 years in the world of horticulture, exploring everything from residential landscaping and garden retail to the beauty of public gardens. For the last 10 years, she has called Longwood Gardens home—growing from a part-time Horticultural Assistant to a Senior Horticulturist in the historic conservatory, where she cares for the Garden Path, Children’s Garden, and Silver Garden. When she is not at Longwood, she is tending to her own little jungle of about 200 houseplants, most of them cacti and succulents.

Matt Calhoun is a horticulturist at Longwood Gardens, where he currently takes care of The Cascade Garden, the 1906 Restaurant, and a few other garden spaces. He was previously a Longwood intern. Houseplants have always been one of Matt’s hobbies, and is also the reason he first had interest in becoming a horticulturist.
