Delve into identifying various hardscape materials, while establishing a baseline of vocabulary and hardscape terms. While not specifically design-focused, this course includes general design tips and considerations intended to be helpful while planning projects or in discussion with design or trade professionals. 

Certificate Information

This course is a elective component of our Landscape Design Certificate and may be taken only after completing the Landscape Design Process and Practice prerequisite.

Instructor

Gregory Schaumburg

Gregory Schaumburg is a creative designer with over 25 years of experience in landscape design. His professional background includes an emphasis on heavy timber structures and carpentry, architectural design, and hardscape design. Before returning to Central Pennsylvania in 2017, he worked extensively in Chicago’s North Shore market and has previously served as an instructor for the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association, Chicago Botanic Garden, and other Midwest landscape educational venues. Greg resides in the State College area, where he owns and operates Marengo Pass Design, a design consulting business with the primary goal of helping others define and improve their home environments.
