Enjoy a rare chance to see the treasures of the Longwood Library and Archives. Founded in 1953, the Longwood Library spans 31,000 volumes of books and serials on horticulture, botany, and the history of the Gardens, including special collections and rare books (the earliest of which published in 1635). The Archives collects historic objects from the Peirce family and Alice and Pierre du Pont, as well as the business records, maps, and photography documenting the beauty of Longwood. Gardens Premium Members have the opportunity to join Director, Library and Information Services David Sleasman and Archivist Alison Miner for a behind-the-scenes tour of this fascinating collection, with an exclusive look at select pieces, rare books, unique artifacts, and more.
Light refreshments will be served.
Advance registration required, space is limited.
Please enter and park through our Business Gate on Conservatory Road. Staff will be on hand to direct you to the Library.
