During this class, follow templates derived from specimens in Longwood’s orchid collection to fabricate your own handmade, lifelike copper orchid ornament. Practice traditional metalworking techniques of cutting, filing, and hammering, as well as cold connection techniques such as riveting, to create a unique design—and enjoy the beautiful results for years to come.

Hattie Weselyk is a self-taught jewelry artist who has been making jewelry since she retired as a professional ballerina to begin her family. Seeking a creative outlet after professional dance led her to an unexpected path. Weselyk purchased a beginner jewelry-making book from a local craft store and established an immediate connection and passion for artisanal work.
