
This course offers landscape designers a practical introduction to ornamental horticulture, focusing on the identification, selection, and use of common landscape plants.
Participants will explore a wide range of trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and perennials suited for various design applications and environmental conditions. Emphasis is placed on plant characteristics, aesthetic value, seasonal interest, and sustainable landscape practices. By the end of the course, designers will be equipped with the knowledge they need to confidently incorporate plant materials into functional and visually compelling landscapes.

Nancy Bell
Nancy Bell is the Education and Garden Coach Coordinator at Gateway Garden Center in Hockessin, DE. She has developed a lifelong fascination and passion for all things nature into a career in horticulture. Bell is an avid Master Gardener who has created many workshops and whose own yard is certified as a Backyard Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Bell has completed the Certificates of Merit in Ornamental Plants Series I and II and Landscape Design at Longwood Gardens. She is also the former host of the Garden Clinic on WDEL in Wilmington, DE.
