Learn the standard tools and practices used to represent the landscape in this informative online series. Explore various media, including pencil, ink, colored pencil, marker, pastel, and watercolor, as well as drafting tools. Using these tools and techniques during plenty of in-class practice time, gain the confidence to communicate your design ideas effectively. This course concludes with a small-group workshop with instructor Zach Hammaker in which he will critique and provide feedback to participants’ work.

Certificate Information

This course is required for the Landscape Design Certificate and a pre-requisite for Landscape Design 1.

Students will have access to recordings of the weekly lectures and online learning material for six months from the last day of class.

Instructor

Zach Hammaker

Zach Hammaker is the owner and principal landscape designer of ZH Design. He completed his education at Penn State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Contracting's Design/Build concentration, and a minor in Horticulture.  After graduation, he moved to the Delaware Valley to work with Terrain at Styers before starting his own business in 2012 in Media, PA. Zach is the past president of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), PA-DE chapter.  He has recently completed a dual Masters degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Landscape Architecture and City Planning.  He currently works as a senior instructor in the University of Delaware's Landscape Architecture program and design principal for the Coastal Resilience Design Studio.
