Join us for an afternoon learning about the fascinating purple martin—the largest North American bird in the swallow family.
The afternoon begins with a lecture followed by a Q&A session … then, explore Longwood’s Idea Garden to see our own colony. You’ll see how we have arranged and maintained our colony gourds to attract purple martins. Participants will leave with a pre-drilled gourd and instructions from instructor Joel Martin on how to hang and care for it at home.
