Longwood Debut
Assistant Director and Organist at St. Paul’s Parish, K Street in Washington DC, Isabella Isza Wu performs throughout the country, with a particular emphasis on transcriptions for large orchestral instruments of the East Coast.
Wu has served as Grand Court Assistant Organist at Macy’s Wanamaker Organ, the largest fully functioning organ in the world, and as Organ Scholar at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church and St. Mark’s Church in Philadelphia.
Recent performances include appearances at Boardwalk Hall, Macy’s Wanamaker Organ, and Longwood Gardens. Additional appearances include the Chamber Music Festival of the Black Hills (SD), Princeton University, Yale University, Brevard Music Festival (NC), Ocean Grove Auditorium (NJ), Overture Hall (Madison, WI), and St. Philip’s Cathedral (GA).
Wu was a featured performer for the 2023 American Guild of Organists Midwest Regional Convention and recently named to the Organ Historical Society E. Power Biggs Scholar Class of 2024.
Wu is passionate about musical creativity and innovation through performance and improvisation. She is particularly interested in historic and modern improvisation, and has taken study tours to Spain, France, Italy, and the Netherlands to pursue her interests in these areas. She recently completed her master's degree in Organ Performance from the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Alan Morrison, Jeffrey Brillhart, and Leon Schelhase. Isza received dual degrees (BM, BA) in Piano Performance and Communication Studies from Northwestern University, during which time she sang at the Alice Millar Chapel Choir and studied organ through the non-major program.
In addition to performance, Wu is passionate about music engagement in the community, and has worked with several award-winning music education programs, including the Penn Memory Center (Philadelphia), The People's Music School (Chicago), the Madison Symphony Orchestra (Wisconsin), and the Northwestern Academy of Music and Special Education. She continues to teach and maintains a piano studio in Washington, DC.
