Music Director at Immanuel Highlands Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE, Steven Patchel has performed organ recitals in the US and United Kingdom, and is a frequent accompanist for local choirs and chamber musicians, including the Center City Chorale of Wilmington.
Originally from Kennett Square, PA, Patchel led music programs in the Boston area for many years, and performed organ recitals at Trinity Church Copley Square, The Mission Church Basilica, Old West Church, and Harvard’s Busch Hall Museum. He has also presented organ recitals at Princeton University Chapel; St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue; Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NY; Longwood Gardens; and in the United Kingdom at the Kelvingrove Art Museum (Glasgow), Leeds Minster, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London.
Patchel began organ studies with Ray Urwin in Wilmington, DE, and received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory in Ohio and the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying organ with William Porter, David Boe, Garth Peacock, and harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford. He is active in the American Guild of Organists, including organizing and teaching a summer program for young organists.
