Whether you are joining us for your first workshop or beginning your journey toward a certificate, we’re delighted you’ve chosen to learn with Longwood Gardens.
Please take a few moments to review the policies below, which help foster a positive, rewarding, and respectful experience for all students, guests, and instructors.
Refund Policy
Continuing Education and Conference registration fees, less a $30 processing fee, may be refunded if notice of cancellation is received at least two weeks before the program date. Refunds are not available for programs that are moved to a pre-planned and published inclement weather date. To cancel your registration, email continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org or call 610.388.5454.
Photography and Video
Longwood Gardens uses volunteer, employee, and contract photographers and videographers throughout our Gardens on a daily basis. During your visit, you may be filmed, videotaped, or photographed by Longwood. Your attendance serves as permission for the use of your image by Longwood and its constituents. If you have concerns, please email continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org or call 610.388.5454.
Recording of Classes
To protect our instructors, our students, and the learning environment, students may not photograph, film, screen-record, audio-record, stream, or otherwise reproduce any instructional content presented during a class, lecture, workshop, demonstration, or other educational program, such as slides, handouts, images, presentations, demonstrations, or other course materials unless Longwood gives written permission in advance.
Students may take photographs or brief video clips of their participation in a program and share them for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided those images or videos do not capture or distribute instructional content or program materials.
This applies to in-person, live online, and self-paced programs, including when a recording is intended only for personal use.
If you need to record any part of a program as a disability-related accommodation, please reach out in advance at continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org. We’re glad to work with you, and may set reasonable conditions on how a recording is used, shared, or stored.
If a student records without permission, we may ask that the recording be deleted and, depending on the situation, remove the student from the program or decline future enrollment, without a refund.
Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather that leads to a program change or other schedule changes, participants will be notified by email.
Accessibility and Accommodations
We strive to make our learning experiences accessible to all participants. Please contact us to request further information or accommodations by emailing continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org or calling 610.388.5254.
Longwood at Granogue: Assumption of Risk
Visitors to Longwood at Granogue, including any accompanying minors, assume all risks associated with undeveloped outdoor spaces, including risks of personal injury, property damage, disability, or death. By entering the property, visitors accept responsibility for these risks and release Longwood Gardens, Longwood at Granogue, and associated parties from liability for any claims, losses, injuries, or damages arising from their use of the property.
Conduct
Longwood Gardens is committed to providing a welcoming and productive learning environment. While disruptive behavior is not anticipated, Longwood Gardens retains the right to dismiss any participant, including in situations where conduct impedes the ability of staff and other participants to proceed with the program. Please refer to our Visiting Guidelines for more information.
Food and Drink
Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the Studios at Longwood Gardens, except for small, individually packaged snacks and beverages for personal use, such as water, coffee, or tea in lidded containers.
Attendance
Students are strongly encouraged to attend and actively participate in class whenever possible, whether in-person or online, to gain the greatest benefit from their coursework.
Attendance policies vary by course. Please consult your individual course syllabus to determine whether and how attendance impacts your grade. If you anticipate missing a class that counts toward your grade, please discuss your attendance directly with your instructor.
All online class meetings conducted via Zoom are recorded and posted to the Online Classroom within two business days, unless student presentations occurred during the session. These recordings exist as an accommodation for students who need them; these recordings are not intended as a substitute for synchronous attendance.
Late Work
Due dates for assignments are listed on course syllabi. Students are strongly encouraged to complete and submit assignments on time to ensure that they receive grades and feedback in a timely manner.
We understand that situations arise that may prevent you from completing assignments on time. Extensions are at the discretion of the instructor and should be discussed and agreed upon in advance on a case-by-case basis. If you anticipate needing an extension, please contact your instructor directly. All work should be completed and turned in no later than one week after the course end date, unless there are extenuating circumstances that merit a longer extension, as determined in discussion with the instructor and the program.
Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
Using someone else's thoughts or ideas without properly giving credit, whether those materials were generated by another human or by Artificial Intelligence (AI), is plagiarism. When using or presenting information to complete an assignment, students are expected to properly cite the sources for any text, images, or other media used.
If a participant is suspected of plagiarism, they may be asked to complete an assignment again. If the incident is significant or the plagiarism is chronic, Longwood Gardens retains the right to dismiss that participant from the class or program. Refunds will not be issued under these circumstances.
