Garden Path

Stroll down this colorful path reminiscent of a cottage garden and discover artful plant combinations, intricate lanterns, and a brick path inlaid with mill stones.

Our gardeners use this space to introduce new plants to the Conservatory—monitoring their performance under glass before they are added to larger displays in other areas of the Conservatory.

History of the Garden

The brick Garden Path occupies an area originally designed by Pierre S. du Pont as a “Spring Walk” of acacia trees, bulbs, and primroses. Today’s Garden Path is designed to be reminiscent of the former Spring Walk from Mr. du Pont’s time.
