Whether you are joining us for your first workshop or starting your journey pursuing a certificate program, we are excited that you’ve decided to learn with Longwood Gardens.
Please take a few moments to review the policies below, which help foster a positive experience for all of our guests and students.
Refund Policy
Continuing Education or Conference registration fees (less $30.00 processing fee) may be refunded if notice of cancellation is received at least two weeks before the event. Refunds are not available for programs moved to pre-planned and published inclement weather dates. To notify us of your cancellation, email continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org or call 610-388-5454.
Photos/Video
Longwood Gardens uses volunteer, employee, and contract photography throughout the gardens on a daily basis. During your visit, you may be filmed, videotaped, or photographed by Longwood. Your attendance serves as permission for the use of your image by Longwood and its constituents. If you have concerns, please email continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org or call 610-388-5454.
Weather
We will notify you via email if there is a schedule change in the event of inclement weather.
Accessibility and Accommodations
We have prepared course content and learning spaces, both online* and on-site, with accessibility in mind. Please contact Continuing Education to request further information or accommodations: continuingeducation@longwoodgardens.org or 610-388-5242.
*Due to the nature of some of our classes, we may not have an online option available for all programming.
Conduct
While unacceptable conduct is not anticipated from participants, Longwood Gardens retains the right to dismiss any participant, including in situations where conduct impedes the ability of staff and other participants to proceed with the program. Please refer to our Visiting Guidelines for more information.
Attendance
Students are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in class whenever possible, whether on-site or online, for the best learning outcomes.
Attendance policies vary by course. Please consult your individual course syllabi to determine whether and how attendance impacts your grade. If you anticipate missing a class that counts toward your grade, please discuss your attendance directly with your instructor.
All online class meetings conducted via Zoom are recorded and posted to the Online Classroom within 2 business days, unless student presentations occurred during the session. These recordings exist as an accommodation for students who need them; these recordings are not intended as a substitute for synchronous attendance.
Late Work
Due dates for assignments are listed on course syllabi. Students are strongly encouraged to complete and submit assignments on time to ensure that they receive grades and feedback in a timely manner.
We understand that situations arise that may prevent you from completing assignments on time. Extensions are at the discretion of the instructor and should be discussed and agreed upon in advance on a case-by-case basis. If you anticipate needing an extension, please contact your instructor directly. All work should be completed and turned in no later than one week after the course end date, unless there are extenuating circumstances that merit a longer extension, as determined in discussion with the instructor and the program.
Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
Using someone else's thoughts or ideas without properly giving credit, whether those materials were generated by another human or by Artificial Intelligence (AI), is plagiarism. When using or presenting information in order to complete an assignment, students are expected to properly cite the sources for any text, images, or other media used.
If a participant is suspected of plagiarism, they may be asked to complete an assignment again. If the incident is significant or the plagiarism is chronic, Longwood Gardens retains the right to dismiss that participant from the class or program. Refunds will not be issued under these circumstances.
